The Art of Adaptability
We are never truly stuck.
A new way of perceiving is always possible.
Adaptability is an art.
The artwork above is by a dear friend and incredible artist, Christophe Souques. I am grateful to display it here, as I feel it sublimely expresses the essence of how I work. I will now try to put that into words.
My belief is that we are never stuck. No matter the situation we find ourselves in, we always have a choice in how we respond, internally or externally. When we lose sight of this capacity to adapt, we enter a world of discomfort, confusion, and a sense of being trapped in our patterns.
My work centres on safely holding space for clients to explore the art of adaptability, so they may discover new ways of perceiving themselves, their relationships, and their experiences. From the most intimate of thoughts and emotions to the vastest view of our place in the order of all things, we have the incredible capacity to re-vision ourselves and uncover paths that were previously unseen.
Trauma-informed yet freedom-affirming
I am a guide, a space-holder, a coach, and a ritualist. I work from a foundational conviction that, even though we may live shaped by our inherited patterns, past trauma and conditioning, none of it defines the full story of who we are—and we are never truly stuck. Each moment is ripe with the possibility of change, subtle or sudden; this movement is the nature of all things.
I work with care and depth: trauma-informed yet freedom-affirming. I offer nervous system release while gently inviting the truth that reality is fluid, adaptive, and alive. Change doesn’t arrive only by grand leaps; it moves through every breath, every shift in perception, every encounter.
Re-awaken the right-brain ways of perceiving
Inspired by the masterful work of Ian McGilchrist, I recognise how our world leans heavily on left-brain modes: analytical, controlling, divided. My intention is to re-awaken right-brain ways of perceiving: imaginative, embodied, relational, whole. Using approaches as old as humanity —breath, ritual, song, movement, dream, plant intelligence—I support people in adapting their way of seeing, so that fresh perspectives and new understandings naturally unfold.
Conflict as an opening
Trained in conflict resolution, I am inspired by the phenomenal work of Ken Cloke to see conflict as a catalyst, not something to fear or avoid, but something that can open space for deeper curiosity, empathy, healing, and transformation. Whether between people or within ourselves, conflict invites us to practice adaptability, to soften rigidity, widen our lens, and find ways forward that were not visible before.
What lies beyond ordinary ways of seeing?
Adaptability is not about surrender. It is the art of discovering: What is this moment truly inviting me to understand? What lies beyond my ordinary ways of seeing and assumptions? What happens if I respond with curiosity and integrity? This exploration infuses my work whether in 1:1 sessions, group settings, or co-facilitated circles.
In essence, The Art of Adaptability is an invitation to remember what is always true: that change is the nature of all things; that conflict can illuminate the path to connection; and that by cultivating adaptability as an art, we uncover new ways of seeing, living, and becoming more alive, more creative, and more free that we ever thought possible.
